Nanje Gowda urges PM to order inquiry into CWDT order
Bangalore, July 28 (UNI) Former Lok Sabha member H N Nanjegowda has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to order a full scale inquiry into the office of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) for declining to supply copies of the Assessors' Report on Group-2 issues relating to the surface water and ground water in the Cauvery basin.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, a copy of which was released to the press here today, he said the Tribunal had declined to give the report on the ground that the Assessors' had not made any such report.
Terming the CWDT order as shocking, he said in any water dispute, the fundamental question would be what was the available surface and ground water.
In the last 16 years, if the Assesors' had not prepared any report advising the judges of the Tribunal on such complicated technical issues, then it was a matter of concern, he added.
