Monsoon session of Assembly begins August 17
Hyderabad, July 28 (UNI) The Monsoon Session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly will begin on August 17 and is likely to last ten days.
According to official sources a decision to the effect has been taken by the government.
The session is likely to be stormy as the main opposition TDP has been making serious allegations against the government, even during the inter-session period.
The issues, apart from alleged corruption in irrigation contracts, which TDP had stalled in the last budget session, spread of Chikungunya, sale of prime government lands to private organisations and parties, the allegation on the acquisition of Government land by Labour Minister G Vinod, essential commodities' prices and naxalite menace were some some of the issues which the TDP is likely to raise during the short session.
The TDP during the last budget session had stalled the assembly proceedings several times during the last budget session on the issue of the alleged corruption in the execution of irrigation projects. Opposition members were suspended a number of times.
The Congress camp was, however, confident that they could face the TDP onslaught effectively and expose their own misdeeds when they were in power.
The Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has already instructed his cabinet colleagues and party MLAs to fan out into their respective areas to ''expose the shallowness of the allegations of the opposition.'' While the government was maintaining that there were no deaths due to Chikungunya, the opposition is claiming that there were fifty deaths.
The Congress Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy, among other Congress leaders had been interacting with the newspersons and responding to the allegations of the opposition effectively. They are confident that they could counter the onslaught of the TDP with ease in the Assembly.
