Low pressure becomes wellmarked, to bring more rains to AP

Hyderabad, July 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh, which witnessed widespread rains under the influence of a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, will have increase in rainfall activity as the low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Orissa- West Bengal coast has become well-marked.

''This system is likely to concentrate into a depression and move in a west-northwesterly direction and increase the ongoing rainfall activity over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next two to three days, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre Director M Satya Kumar told UNI.

Rain occurred in most places over Telangana and at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and isolated rain occurred over Rayalaseema, he said, adding that moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers were likely to occur at many places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari, Khammam, Adilabad,Nizamabad, Warangal and Karimnagar.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers were likely to occur at a few places over Rayalaseema and in the remaining districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

A report from Visakhapatnam said squally surface winds with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmh from westerly direction are likely along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh, cyclone warning centre said.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are Koida, Salur Tekkali 3 each, Kalingapatnam, Araku Valley and Paderu, Kaleswaram, Koyyalagudem and Polavaram, Mudhol, Mulugu, Palakonda, Patapatnam, Ranasthalam, Sompeta and Veeraghattam, Pargi, Parvathipuram, Porumamilla, Satyavedu, Sriramsagar, Venkatapuram 2 each.
