Court rejects Rakhi Sawant's application

Kolhapur, July 28: The local court today rejected item girl Rakhi Sawant's application expressing willingness to pay fine through her lawyer.

The court reserved the verdict for August 31, directing Sawant to present herself in the court.

Chief Judicial Magistrate S M Yellatti said the fine of Rs 1000 is considered a serious crime.

As per sections 110 and 112, fine upto Rs 2400 in which about Rs 2000 is allowed to pay by the registered post. However, Sawant failed to do it and was ordered to present herself in the court on August 31.

Sawant, through her lawyer Jaydeep Thakkar, accepted the charges of indecent behaviour.

Sawant's stage show was arranged on May 18 by a private organisor which was objected by a social organisation. Police then booked her under section 110 for destroying public peace by her indecent behaviour during the show.
