K'taka Govt to constitute SHRC

Bangalore, July 28 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will constitute a State Human Rights Commission shortly, honouring a Supreme Court directive in this regard, Home Minister M P Prakash announced today.

Speaking to newspersons after attending the annual ceremonial parade of the State police here, he admitted that Karnataka was the only State which was yet to constitute SHRC. He had discussed the issue threadbare with officials of the department concerned and a final decision would be taken in another ten days.

Denying that the State police officials were coming in the way of constituting SHRC, the Minister said all precautions would be taken to check misuse of the constitutional forum by vested interests.
