K'taka Governor's report to Centre, no cause for worry: Minister
Bangalore, July 28 (UNI) Terming as ''routine'' Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi's report to the Centre on the illegal mining activities in the State and bribery charges levelled against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Home Minister M P Prakash today dismissed suggestions that the Centre might use it to destabilise the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government in the State.
Speaking to newspersons after participating in the annual ceremonial parade of the State police here, he said the Governor had a constitutional duty to brief the Centre about the happenings in the State and the same had been done by the Karnataka Governor also.
There was no need to attach any political significance to it, he opined.
Mr Prakash said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was a mature and seasoned politician and he could not be prevailed upon by anyone to use the Governor's report against the State Government.
Criticising the Congress for making ''false charges'' against the State Governmet, he said the coalition Government would face any challenge posed by detractors.
Referring to the Maharashtra Government raising the border issue, the Minister alleged that it was the handiwork of some vested interests and politicians of that State to achieve political mileage. The issue had been settled by the Mahajan Commission, he said adding the Maharashtra Government was raising a dead issue as a diversionary tactic to cover up its failures.
On the demand to take an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister on the Belgaum issue, he said Mr Kumaraswamy would take a decision in a couple of days in this regard.
