Kerala's interests to be fully protected on dam issue: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, July 28 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said necessary steps would be taken to protect the State's interest on the Mullaperiyar dam issue in the context of the Supreme Court's dismissal of the state government's petition seeking a review of its verdict allowing the raising of the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam.
In a statement here, he said the apex court's order was against the interests of Kerala.
Mr Achuthanandan held the previous UDF government responsible for the present situation as it "failed" to argue Kerala's case effectively before the Supreme Court.
The Mullaperiyar dam is 110-years-old and it has posed a threat to the life and property of hundreds of thousands of people, he said and added that Kerala's concern in this regard should have been taken into consideration.
