Kashmir bar not to attend the diamound jubilee of J
Srinagar, July 28 (UNI) Announcing to stay away from the diamond jubilee function of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, being attended by President APJ Abdul Kalam tomorrow here, the members of the Kashmir bar association took to streets today.
Holding of the jubilee celebration after three years of scheduled date was rubbing salt on the wounds of the people of Kashmir, Kashmir Bar Association (KBA) president Mian Abdul Qayoum said.
He claimed the Indian government wanted to show outside the world that everything was in order in the Kashmir valley when actually Human Rights violations by the security forces are going on without any check.
''How can we celebrate the diamond jubilee when court orders are not being implemented by the security agencies, particuarly Jammu and Kashmir government. Despite court directions, detenues are still in jails without any reason,'' he said.
He said the KBA has decided to stay away from the function tomorrow.
Later, the KBA members raising pro-freedom slogans near the main gate of the State High Court entered the complex in a procession.
They also demanded immediate release of detenues and stop of Human Rights violations in the valley.
President Kalam is scheduled to attend the Diamond Jubilee function of the state high court in the court complex tomorrow.
