Judge hearing Shahabuddin's cases threatened

Siwan, July 28 (UNI) Judge V V Gupta of the special court, constituted to hear the cases of jailed RJD MP Md Shahabuddin, has reportedly been threatened on telephone with 'dire consequences'.

Police Superintendent Sunil Kumar said the security has been beefed up to protect the judge. However, he refused to divulge any information about the threat calls.

It is reported that the threat calls were made either from Aurangabad or Gaya.

Meanwhile, Special Public Prosecutor R D Mahto said after the court hours were over yesterday, Mr Gupta told about the threatening calls, made on his mobile, to the advocates of defence and prosecution.

He said Mr Gupta, instead of filing an FIR, brought the entire matter to the notice of Patna High Court for action.
