Srinagar, July 28 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council (LC) today expressed its grave concern over the Israli attack on Lebanon and recent bomb blasts in Srinagar and Mumbai.
Demanding an immediate end to Isreali agression, the chairman of the Legislative Council Abdul Rashid said the situation that has arisen out of Israeli attack on Lebanon, where hundreds of innocent people were killed was very serious.
He said condemned the killing of tourists and other civilians in the state and at Mumbai, and expressed his sympathy for the bereaved families.
Moving obituary reference in Legislative Council he paid his tributes to Pramodh Mahajan Ex-Union Minister, Ghulam Nabi Untoo, ex-Member of the Parliament, Ex-MLAs, Sheikch Abdul Rashid and Ghulam Nabi Dar.
The Chairman also expressed concern on the attack on legislator Sakina Itoo and prayed for her speedy recovery.
Those who spoke on the obituary reference moved by the Chairman include Ghulam Rasool Kar, B A Naz, Lal Mohammad Sabir, Nizam-ud-Din, Ashok Sharma, Mrs Farida Mir, G N Lone, A R Tukroo, Abdul Rashid Qureshi, T S Wazir, Bilal Lodhi, N A Mir, Ved Prakash Mahajan, Arvinder Singh and Ghim Singh.
The members conveyed their sympathies for the bereaved families and also prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
They also expressed concern over the repeated attacks on Ms Sakina and urged upon the government to make foolproof security arrangements for the politicians and social workers. The urged for identifying their culprits behind these attacks.
Later, a two minute silence was observed in respect of the departed souls.
