Infiltration bid foiled, three ultras killed 14 injrued in J

Srinagar, July 28 (UNI) Security forces foiled an infiltration bid when they gunned down two heavily armed militants in Boniyar sector, while elsewhere in the Jammu and Kashmir a militant was killed and 14 others were wounded since last evening, an official spokesman said today.

He said security forces guarding the border noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) via Mina Gali in Boniyar sector early this morning.

When challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened fire.

The fire was returned and in the fierce clash two infiltrators were killed.

Two AK Rifles, three IEDs, four grenades, two wireless sets, two pouches, one jacket, one magazine, one diary, Rs 2500 Indian currecny, Rs 430 Pak currency and a blanket were seized from the slain ultras, he said adding one of the slain ultra has been identified as Abdul Ahad, a resident of Palipora in PoK.

Security forces have so far killed more than 50 militants on the Line of Control (LoC) since January this year. A number of ex- filtration attempts were also foiled by the security forces during the same period.

Troops of 19 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a search operation at Putshahi Lolab in the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning after receiving information about the presence of militants there.

However, when the troops were sealing the area, militants attacked them. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash one militant was killed. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

The spokesman said militants today hurled a hand grenade towards a security force water tanker at Poonch causing injuries to three personnel. The injured were admitted to hospital.

Militants threw a hand grenade at Koimoh in south Kashmir last night, resulting in injuries to 11 persons, including three security personnel. The injured were hospitalised.

Security forces apprehended a militant of Al-Burq at Baramulla town during a search operation and seized an AK rifle, two magazines, 55 rounds and a pouch from him.

Security forces also seized an AK rifle, one pistol, seven magazines, one UBGL grenade, one wireless set and 416 rounds during a search operation from Gulmarg sector last night.
