HSCIL launches 'Honda Civic'
Kozhikode, July 28 (UNI) Automobile giant Honda Siel Cars India Limited (HSCIL) today launched 'Honda Civic' with advanced 1.8 L i-VTEC engine, aerodynamic exteriors and futuristic interiors.
The premium car, available in manual (1.8S MT) and automatic (1.8S AT) versions at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 10.97 lakh and Rs 11.67 lakh respectively, was launched by Mr Mitesh Patel, Managing Director of Peninsular Honda (PH), distributors in South India.
Claiming that the new varient offered unparalled fuel efficiency, he told reporters prior to the launch that drive-by-wire technology enhanced the efficiency of the engine, resulting in quick response and robust acceleration.
Equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission with a unique ''paddle shift'' option, the vehicle can be operated using the F-1 facing inspired paddle switches, located just behind the steering spoke, he said.
The paddle shift, a first for India, provides the convenience of an automatic transmission with enhanced driving pleasure of manual transmission, he said.
Stating the company had aleady received order for 100 units from Malabar region alone, Mr Patel said he expected 500 more booking during 2006.
The vehicle, which had aleady been launched at Thirivanthapuram and Kochi, besides Kozhikode, would be unveiled at Mangalore in Karnataka tomorrow, he added.
