HP soldier killed in Jammu and Kashmir

Hamirpur, JulY 28 (UNI) Even as the country was celebrating seventh anniversary of its victory in Kargil, a village in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh was grieving the death of one of their sons in Jammu and Kashmir, official and family sources said today.

Sunil Dutt, 24, a resident of Desan village in Barsar sub division of the district laid down his life fighting militants in Srinagar on Wednesday.

His family sources said the Army authorities conveyed the news of Sunil's death to them late last evening.

Villagers gathered at the soldier's house after hearing the news of his death to console the family members.

A senior Hamirpur district official said his body was being brought to the village for funeral.

The district administration has also decided to give a state funeral to the body, he added.
