'G7 wants China at finance meetings regularly'
Berlin, Jul 27: The Group of Seven (G7) industrialised nations wants representatives from China to regularly attend its meetings of finance ministers and central bankers twice a year, a newspaper reported today.
The Financial Times Deutschland, citing G7 sources, said the group's wish for Chinese officials to attend the meetings reflected China's increased economic importance in the world.
''The imbalances in the world economy, such as the high U.S.
trade deficit, can no longer be meaningfully discussed without China,'' the FTD quoted a G7 source as saying in an advance release of a story to run in its Friday edition.
