FIR against teacher as student dies after being beating

Nashik, July 28 (UNI) Police at Kalwan in Navivesh village here have registered a case against a Government school teacher, for allegedly attempting to kill one of his students.

Police said on July 16, a class-II girl student was severely beaten up by the accused, Sunil Sawant, who is the superintendent of the school's hostel, as she reportedly returned late to her hostel room.

Following the incident, the girl complained of severe pain in neck and the next morning she was found dead.

However, after remaining silent for a while over the matter, the victim's family lodged an FIR against the teacher yesterday.
