E-mail claim: youth remanded to police custody
Bhopal, July 27 (UNI) The Bhopal Chief Judicial Magistrate has remanded a youth, who was arrested for sending three e-mails to a private TV channel, to police custody till August 1.
Shareeq Ahmad Khan, who was presented before the CJM yesterday, had confessed to having dispatched three e-mail from here, to a private TV channel, in the name of 'Lashkar-i-Kahar' claiming responsibility for Mumbai blasts.
The accused had 11 e-mail IDs.
Khan, a resident of the local Shaheed Colony, has completed his education until the higher-secondary level and was enrolled in a GNIIT course. His father, a former bank employee, voluntarily retired recently.
''The first mail was dispatched at 1717 hrs on July 15. Claiming responsibility for 7/11, the accused described himself as the Lashkar-i-Kahar spokesman. On July 17 and 24, he sent similar e-mail from different cybercafes and signed off as Abu Mahaz,'' Inspector-General Sanjeev Singh said.
