Delhi firm bags Rs 25 crore-Kashmir road project

Srinagar, July 28 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency has signed a Rs 25 crore-contract with Delhi-based construction firm for Pantha Chowk-Lethpora-Pampore road under the Multi-sector Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project (MIRP).

The 39 km-road project, being funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB), has been awarded to Bonawari Lal Agarwal MK Ltd and involves the widening and strengthening of the existing road and upgrading the link roads in the Pantha Chowk-Lethapora loop.

The project will benefit thousands of people living in the commercially important towns of the Pulwama district--Zewan, Wuyan, Khrew, Ladhu and Khanmoh-- and give further fillip to the state economy, by improving the connectivity between these industrial towns to Srinagar and other parts of the state.

The project will include detailed surveys and design, periodic pavement maintenance during construction.

The work also includes the construction of bridges and culverts, drains and cross drains and road safety devices. The road is being constructed as per Indian Road congress specifications and the work on the project will commence soon.
