Counterfeit currency estimated at Rs 1.5 lakh seized, 3 arrested
Lucknow, July 28 (UNI) Police busted a fake currency syndicate with the arrest of three persons in Amria area of Pilibhit district and seizure of illegal tender estimated at over Rs 1.5 lakh.
Police said a dwelling was raided yesterday, that led to the arrest of Mahendra, Liladhar and Mukesh from the spot.
Coungerfeit Indian currency notes in the denomination of 1000, 500, 100 and 50 totalling more than Rs 1.51 lakh were seized apart from equipment used in the illicit trade.
The accused confessed they used to supply such notes to their clients in Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit and Rampur districts in Uttar Pradesh, and Khatima and Rudrapur districts in Uttaranchal.
A case had been registered.
