'Charge me if I am guilty': Jaswant
New Delhi, July 28 (UNI) Refusing to name the mole who leaked nuclear secrets to the US to anyone other than Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh today dared the government to prosecute him for keeping the information to himself.
''Let the government charge me if I am guilty of a criminal offence,'' Mr Singh told the 'India Tonight' programme on CNBC channel.
The former External Affairs Minister, who is in the eye of a storm after revealing the existence of a spy in the Prime Minister's Office during the Narasimha Rao government, said he would give the information only to the Prime Minister.
He said he made a personal request to the Prime Minister seeking a meeting to hand over the name, ''but over 36 hours have passed'' and the Prime Minister had not found it convenient to meet him.
''It is important for me to go and share the information with the Prime Minister,'' Mr Singh said. ''Why doesn't he give me the time?'' On criticism against him for not giving the information to the next government, he said no purpose would have been served as governments kept changing between 1996 and 1998.
Mr Singh also indicated that the Narasimha Rao government was aware of the presence of the mole in the PMO.
''I am under no pressure whatsoever to name the person who leaked the nuclear secrets,'' he added.
