Banking operations paralysed in Bengal following strike
Kolkata, Jul 28 (UNI) Banking operations came to a grinding halt in West Bengal today following one-day strike by the officers and employees to press for their demands.
The strike was called by the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) and Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) in support of their demand for withdrawal of RBI's decision to outsource the clearing operations.
They also demanded filling up of vacancies through proper recruitment policy in public sector banks and expeditious extension of one year's more pension for retired bank employees among other things.
The striking employees resorted to demonstration in front of their offices shouting slogans in support of their demands.
