Bank transactions remain paralysed in Bihar

Patna, Jul 28 (UNI) In the wake of the nationwide strike of the Bankers in support of their charter of demands, the Bank transactions remained paralysed in Bihar today.

Prasad said here that at the call of their national body, All India Bank Employees Association and All India Bank Officers Association, the employees and officers of all nationalised Banks were on day-long strike in protest against outsourcing of Bank services and clearing operations.

He said they had also demanded for recruitment of at least one lakh personnel to fill up the vacant posts and provide one more opportunity for pension.

General Secretary of the Bank Employees Federation of Bihar, Mr B Prasad claimed the strike to be complete and effective and said the Banks remained closed and clearing house could not function due to the strike.

The striking Bank employees took out rally and staged dharna which was addressed by several trade union leaders. The agitators shouted slogans and demanded withdrawal of all anti-people measures adopted by the Central government at the behest of IMF, World Bank and WTO.

Addressing the striking employees, the trade union leaders called upon them to be prepared for sustained struggle and for defending the economic sovereignty of the country.
