9 killed in building collapse in Solan

Solan, Jul 28 (UNI) Nine people, including a woman and three children, were buried alive and seven others were seriously injured when a two-storey building under construction collapsed in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, police said today.

The building at Baga village, collapsed at 2200 hrs after a retaining wall on which the building was constructed caved in due to rains late last night, Solan SP Gyaneshwar Singh said here today.

Mr Singh, who visited the site this morning, said in all, nine labourers were killed and seven others were injured in the mishap.

He added that DSP Ramesh Chajta and Arki SDM Rohit Jamwal were rushed to the site soon after the incident to supervise rescue and relief operations.

The Solan SP said four of the seriously injured people have been admitted to a government hospital at Bilaspur.
