8 killed, 6 injured in two road mishaps
Bangalore, July 28 (UNI) Eight people, including four boys, were killed and six injured in separate road mishaps in Karnataka in the last 24 hours.
Four people were killed and four others injured when two trucks collided head on near Yallapur, about 80 km from Hubli, in Uttara Kannada district today.
Police said, both the trucks carrying iron ore collided, killing three people on the spot. The other person succumbed to injuries at the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here.
The injured were being treated at KIMS.
In the other mishap, four boys, all below the age of 15, were killed and two others injured when a sand laden-lorry in which they were travelling turned turtle at Sinroor, about 30 km from Gulbarga, late last night.
Police said six boys were on their way to Mehaboob Subhani darga in Nelloor when the lorry went out of control and overturned, burying four of them alive in the sand and leaving behind two injured.
The deceased were identified as Semmi(15), Matin (8), Hasif (13) and Ibrahim (10).
The injured were admitted to the government hospital in Gulbarga.
The lorry driver was absconding, police added.
