55 new units involving Rs 1.47 cr being set up in J
Srinagar, July 28 (UNI) Fifty-five new units are being set up in the Jammu and Kashmir under the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) at a cumulative cost of Rs 1.47 crore, an official spokesman said.
He said this decision was taken at a meeting of Standing Finance Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board which was presideded over the Minister for Industries and Commerce Nawang Rigzin Jora.
The meeting accorded sanction to 55 new cases under REGP and these units will be set at a cumulative cost of Rs 1.47 crore including Rs 41 lakh as marginal money.
As many as 972 youth are expected to be benefited.
The meeting was informed that in the first quarter of the current financial year the Board has set up 111 units involving Rs 2.43 crore by providing Rs 72 lakh as marginal money among the unit holders.
The units would provide employment to 1772 youth.
Giving details of the activities, Secretary KVIB R C Sharma informed that the Board is organising more Entrepreneur Development Programmes (EDP) so that beneficiaries of the rural areas set up the sustainable employment generating units.
He further informed the Board has organised 15 awareness camps during current financial year in the remote and far-flung areas of the state including Gurez, Tangdar, Tulail, Kargil, Tangtse, Leh, Burn and Badhori.
