38 Indian wrestlers to compete at Asian Cadet meet at Bangkok
Chandigarh, Jul 28 (UNI) A strong 38-member squad of Indian wrestlers will compete in the 6th Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship being held in Bangkok from August 8 to 12.
The wrestlers in the free-style and Greco-Roman style were selected during the trials held on July 25, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president M S Malik said here today.
The trials for boys were conducted at Aurangabad in Maharashtra while girls wrestlers in freestyle were selected during trials at the Sports Authority of India coaching centre in Hissar. Government nominee Sudesh Kumar and WFI secretary B S Landge were part of the selection committee.
Meanwhile, seven wrestlers, including three girls are from Haryana.
Teams: Frestyle: 42 kg Vijay Pawar (Mah), 46 kg Munish (Har), 50 kg Narender (NCR), 54 kg Amit (Raj), 58 kg Jaibir (DAWA), 63 kg Amit (DSAWA), 69 kg Sandeep (Punjab), 76 kg Surender (WAD), 85 kg Parvesh (WB), 100 kg Mausam (CBSM). Coaches: Jagminder (chief coach), Ashok Kumar and Jagdish Ahhawat.
Greco-Roman: 42 kg Navneet (Haryana), 46 kg Sunit Patil (SSCB), 50 kg Vishwanath Patil (Bhr), 54 kg Surender (Har), 58 kg Suresh Yadav (SSCB), 63kg Parven (Har), 69 kg Satish (CBSM), 76 kg Imran Khan (Uttranchal), 85 kg Vishal Balkawade (Mar), 100 kg Rakesh (NCR).
Coaches: Gian Singh, Satibir Singh.
Women: 36 kg Kavita (UP), 40 kg Kavita (Nidani), 43 kg Priyanka Singh (UP), 46 kg Kaushalya Wagh (Mah), 49 kg Babita (Har), 52 kg Shilip Sheron (Har), 56 kg Sushma (J&K), N Tombi (Manipur), Jayawanti (Nidani) and 70 kg Anmol (Haryana). Anita Rani (Manipur), Anvali Devkar (Mah).
