Widespread rains in HP

Shimla, July 27 (UNI) Monsoon remains active in Himachal Pradesh with almost all mid and lower hills of the state continuing to receive moderate to heavy rains for the second day today, the met office said.

Almost all places in Mandi, Kullu and Kangra districts received heavy rains for the second day today, while light rains lashed Shimla, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Una districts of the state.

Dharamshala in Kangra district recorded the heaviest rainfall of 87.8 mm during the last 24 hrs till 0830 hrs followed by 67.8 mm at Dhundi in Kullu district, 56 mm at Ghamroor in Kangra district, 47 mm and 45.5 mm rain respectively at Jogindernagar and Pandoh towns of Mandi district.

The met office said Solang Nullah in Kullu also received 39 mm of rain, while Nagrota Surian and Bhuntar recorded 29.6 mm and 27.5 mm rain respectively during the last 24 hrs.

Dharamshala and Nagrota Surian has so far recorded 1176.6 mm and 761.6 mm of rains from June one to till date and official sources said no loss of life had been reported from any part of the state so far.

The sky remained covered with clouds over Shimla and its adjoining areas during the last 24 hrs and the met office said it recorded 7.4 mm of rains in the state capital till 0830 hrs.

However, Shimla was receiving heavy rain since afternoon, disrupting traffic at several places in the state capital.

The minimum temperature recorded at Shimla was 16 degrees, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded night temperatures of 22.1 and 19.3 degrees Celsius.

The met office has predicted moderate to heavy rains at several places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
