Water levels in three major reserviors increase
Thiruvananthapuram, July 27 (UNI) The South-West monsoon was active in Kerala with Kollangode receiving nine cm of rains.
Heavy rain lashed in most places in Kerala and at a few places in Lakshadweep.
Chittur received seven cm of rain followed by Quilandy five cm, Kanjirappaly and Ottappalam four cm each.
Palakkad,Kodungallur, Konni, Kozha, Mannarkkad, Paravur, Thrissur, Perumbavoor and Thozupuzha three cm each, Met office said today.
Heavy rains will occur at many places in Kerala and at a few places in Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours.
Strong onshore wind in Westerly direction with speed occassionaly reaching 45-55 kms over Kerala are expected, it added.
Water levels in three major reservoirs in the state have increased following heavy inflow.
When compared with the water levels recorded during the same period last year, Idukki reservoir showed an increase of 12.55 ft, Kallada 02.98 ft and Idamalayar 15.74 ft.
While water level at Idamalayar inceased to 497.01 ft from 486.55 ft, at Kallada from 348.82ft to 353.54 ft and at Idukki from 2335.12 ft to 2342.42 ft.
