US wants to help Bengal in environment, wildlife protection
Kolkata, July 27 (UNI) The US wants active cooperation with the West Bengal government in various aspects of environment and wildlife protection, besides intensifying the ongoing joint anti-poaching initiatives.
This was conveyed to Environment Minister Mohanta Chatterjee by US Consul-General in Kolkata, Henry Jardine, during a meeting at the state secretariat.
Mr Jardine said he had come to discuss mutual cooperation in the areas of wetlands and wildlife protection with Mr Chatterjee.
''We also discussed the possibility of intensifying anti-poaching activities in the state, especially the ongoing initiatives at the Buxa Tiger Reserve (in North Bengal),'' the US envoy said.
Mr Jardine said Mr Chatterjee was also keen to carry forward joint initiatives.
