Unemployment allowance is central prog: Sheila

Kanpur, July 27 (UNI) The credit for unemployment allowance goes to the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit claimed here today.

Talking to mediapersons here, Ms Dikshit said it was clearly announced in the Congress manifesto before the parliamentary polls.

Rejecting the claim of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav that it was the state government's scheme to benefit the unemployed youth, she claimed it was done to gain cheap popularity.

''This is UPA government's scheme to help the unemployed youth and all the state governments were asked to implement the scheme in phased manner untill such youth get jobs,'' she added.

In reply to a question, Ms Dikshit said it was too early to comment on forging any alliance with other parties for the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh next year. ''All options are open,'' she added.

She informed the party was working out on all the aspects and would take the decisions at the opportune time.
