UN team in Kathmandu to support peace process

Kathmandu, July 27: A three-member UN team has arrived here to support the ongoing peace process and explore the role UN could play in addressing the issues.

A press statement issued by the UN Information Centre in Kathmandu said the head of the UN team, Staffan de Mistura, will arrive in Kathmandu this afternoon.

The 3-member UN team comprising Kendra Kollins, Jared Jotler and Orisi Rabukawaqua, are technical experts and their support is expected to be of immense significance to the peace process.

The UN team is visiting Nepal following the request of Nepal government for the peace process in Nepal.

The visiting UN team is looking forward to hold discussions with both, Nepal Government and the CPN-Maoist, to look into the possibilities of extending support.

The team which arrived here yesterday, will remain in Nepal from July 26 to August 3.
