Tension in slain Maoist leader's village
Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, July 27 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Mangapet Village of the district where the last rites of CPI(Maoist) State Secretary Madhav, who was killed in an encounter with the police, will be performed later in the day.
Police and elite Grey Hounds took control of the village late last night to meet any eventuality.
The commandos sealed off all the four roads leading to the village suspecting Maoist infiltration. All vehicles entering the village were thoroughly checked.
Policemen even frisked Madhav's relatives. When some of them were stopped on the outskirts of the village, women entered into an argument and forced their way in. Videography is also being undertaken.
Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) Honorary President Manda Krishna Madiga arrived at the village. Balladeer Gaddar and revolutionary writer Vara Vara Rao were also expected to attend the funeral.
However, there was no information about Madhav's wife Vasanta who had gone underground.
District SP D S Chauhan said the police had deployed only enough forces to maintain law and order.
He, however, cautioned the law would take its own course if any one tried to disturb peace.
