Ten new tourism projects to be taken up in Manipur
Imphal, Jul 27 (UNI) The Ministry of Tourism has expressed keeness to take up ten new tourism projects in Manipur within this fiscal.
Under the Tourist Destination Development Scheme, two projects are to be taken up at Nongmaiching and at Imphal in Manipur. At Nongmaiching, an Eco- Tourism park with golf course will be developed. Imphal will also be developed as tourist destination.
Under Tourism Circuit Development Scheme, there will be tourism circuit facility connecting Imphal- Bishnupur- Sendra- Churachandpur. Under Fair and Festival Scheme, four projects namely Manipur Tourism Festival at Imphal, Tourist Meet at Delhi, Kut Festival and Lui-ngai-ni Festival are to be taken up.
Under Rural Tourism Scheme, three projects are to be taken up at Andro, Khongjom and Noney.
The Manipur government has submitted detailed project reports, except that of Rural Tourism, prepared by the India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd to the Ministry. The project report for Rural Tourism is being prepared by the ITDC, officials said.
State tourism minister T. N. Haokip said the development of tourism will definitely solve unemployment in the state .
Mr Haokip met Union Minister of Tourism Ambika Soni in Delhi and urged her for expediting funds for all the prioritized projects so that the State Government could start implementing those at the earliest.
