Tata Steel to provide aid to tribal students
Jamshedpur, Jul 27: Steel major Tata Steel has granted scholarships under its Jyoti Fellowship Programme (JFP) of Tribal Cultural Society to two tribal students for their academic excellence.
Sundar Mohan Hansda and Ananta Lal Tudu have been qualified for IIT, Roorkee, to pursue B Tech in computer science and IIT, Chennai respectively, company sources said.
The scholarship, worth Rs 25 lakhs in total, will cover all the academic expenses, tution fees and also hostel fees of these tribal students till completion of their course.
JFP, designed basically to assist the meritorious tribals students to meet their academic expenses, was introduced last year and 390 students were given awards.
This year about 1000 students had appeared to qualify for the fellowship out of which 400 students will be selected for schlarship, the sources said.
