Srisailam receives heavy inflow
Hyderabad, July 27 (UNI) Farmers of Krishna delta region were upbeat as Srisailam, the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh, received surplus water in the wake of heavy discharge from upper riparian states of Karnataka and Maharashtra.
With an inflow 1,45,951 cusecs, the level in Srisailam rose to 867.3 ft against full level of 885 ft.
Official souces said with the present level of inflow, Sirisailam would get filled up within a week.
As inflows into Almatti and Narayanpur in Karnataka increased to 1,58,543 cusecs and 1,49,250 cusecs respectively following heavy rains in the catchment areas of the river in Maharashtra, the authorities let out 1,45,037 cusecs and 1,47,329 cusecs from the almost full reservoirs, official sources said.
Maintaining the level at 1037.28 ft in Jurala, the entry point of the river in Andhra Pradesh, 1,49,760 cusecs was let out downstream.
After power generation, 27,756 cusecs was let out from Srisailam to Nagarjunasagar where the level rose to 562.2 ft. The discharge was maintained at 25,005 cusecs for irrigation in the Krishna Delta region, they added.
