Special counters in Pragati Maidan for filing IT returns

New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) Income Tax returns can be filed at special counters at Pragati Maidan, Hall No 11A from tomorrow till July 31, from 10 am to 4 pm, including on Saturday and Sunday.

During this period, Income Tax returns will be received only at Pragati Maidan and not at Mayur Bhawan, Connaught Place, the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Delhi informed today.

Separate counters will be set up for senior citizens (above 65 years of age) who derive income from pension.

As many as 93 Post Offices in Delhi have been notified to receive the IT returns from July 26 as an additional facility to the taxpayers so that they are not required to travel long distances for filing returns.

The last date for filing of returns for assessment year 2006-07 (financial year 2005-06) for persons having income from salary and pension is July 31.

The taxpayers having salary or pension income can file their returns in Form No 2D, 2E and 2F.
