Six day session cheating alleges NC

Srinagar, July 27 (UNI) Making their intentions clear to take the government head on, the main opposition party in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference (NC) today described the just six-day session of the Legislative Assembly commencing tomorrow as ''cheating with democracy.'' ''If we are not allowed to raise the important issues, including prevailing security situation, unemployment, price rise, corruption and bad financial management in the House, we will be forced to come out on the streets,'' the NC legislative party leader Abdul Rahim Rather said here today.

Addressing a press conference at party headquarter in Nawai-e-Subh complex, Mr Rather said calling just six-day session was cheating with democracy. There will be no business tomorrow as President APJ Abdul Kalam will address a joint session of the legislature, he said adding only five working days will be left for the entire business.

The government was not in favour of discussion on important issues concering the common people because of its failure on all fronts, he said.

Is it possible to discuss 740 questions, about 60 private members bills 158 resolutions in these five days, he sought to know and demanded extention of the session.

He said all the 74 members in the 89-member House were asked to submit ten question each, besides two resolutions and private members bills for the session. Thirteen ministers besides two presiding officers cannot ask questions, he said and added only five to six questions are being taken up in a day during question hour.
