Seven years sentence for main accused in Pushkar rape case
Ajmer, July 27 (UNI) The main accused, Babloo, in the Japanese tourist rape case at Pushkar was given seven years of rigourous imprisonment by a fast track court today.
Judge Mahavir Prasad also sentenced his mother Roshni and brother Raju to three years imprisonment for aiding him in the crime.
In the verdict, the court said the accused should be given strigent punishment as raping a tourist sends out a wrong signal to the world at large and distorts the image of India as a tourist destination.
The other two accused, Babloo's friends Sanjay and Shahi, were acquitted as there were not enough evidence against them.
The Japanese tourist, who stayed at Babloo's Quiet guest house had accused him of raping her on April 2 and also accused Roshni of cheating her of Rs 54,000.
She had said in her complaint that she was raped after a party at the guest house, after she was offered a drink laced with intoxicants.
The Japanese tourist had fled to Agra from where she faxed her complaint to the police in Pushkar.
