Rains lash Delhi, waterlogging, jams in many areas
New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) The rain gods today continued to shower their bounty on Delhiites with the capital witnessing more showers this morning, following the heaviest rainfall of the Monsoon season yesterday.
After yesterday's day-long heavy downpour, which continued throughout the night, Delhi was again hit by rains this morning.
The rainfall, however, brought with it the usual problems of waterlogging and traffic jams in many areas.
Though the capital had till 1130 hrs witnessed only 2.7 mm rainfall, the figure could be much higher as showers were still continuing.
Today's showers brought down the minimum temperature to 24.3 Degrees celsius, from 27.2 Degree celsius, yesterday.
Today's showers follow yesterday's heavy rainfall which saw the capital receive the highest rainfall in a day during the monsoon season. For, during the last 24 hours, till 0830 hrs this morning, the capital received 103.8 mm of rainfall, the heaviest spell of rains in a single day ever since the South West monsoons hit Delhi in the second week of July.
With today's rainfall, the capital has experienced about 148 mm of rainfall since Tuesday morning.
Yesterday's showers kept the people of Delhi ensconced in their homes and offices throughout the day. In fact, after showers during the day, the capital was lashed by another spell of heavy rainfall towards the evening.
Tomorrow could bring more heavy rains to the capital with the Weathermen forecasting a generally cloudy sky with a few more spells of rain and thundershowers with the likelihood of heavy showers in some areas in the next 24 hours.
In fact the coming days could witness an increase in rainfall activity in North West India.
