Raghubansh raises issue of electrification with CM

Patna, Jul 27 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister Raghubansh Prasad Singh has sought Chief Minister Nitish Kumars intervention for sorting out problems coming in the way of rural electrification in Bihar.

Mr Singh, in a letter to Mr Kumar last Tuesday, said that he was informed about largescale theft of electric wire in rural areas of Vaishali district when he made an official visit to the district on July 16. He said such indicidents were hampering the progress of rural electrification.

Only Vaishali district reported 36 incidents of theft of electric wire during the last one year, the minister noted adding that the situation was not different in Muzaffarpur district either. He said the chief minister should initiate immediate steps for preventing recurrence of such incidents.

Mr Singh said electrification was completed at 362 villages of Vaishali district in the first phase itself but people were yet to enjoy the development as the power load, increased following the electrification, had yet to be borne by related sub-stations. He said the Bihar State Electricity Board had not made appointments to meet the demands of new consumers in the rural areas.
