Plan for Kolkata modernisation after Europe

Kolkata, Jul 27 (UNI) The West Bengal Government is considering proposals from five European countries to modernise Kolkata after the model of their cities.

Haldia Petroleum Limited Chairman Tarun Das today told reporters that the Government had received assistance proposals from the UK, Germany, France, Holland and Switzerland for modernisation and development of Kolkata following the models of their cities.

" The Government is considering the proposals, " Mr.Das, also the Secretary General of CII(ER), said, after meeting Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Industry Minister Nirupam Sen.

Mr Das informed that the Chief Minister was likely to visit few foreign countries shortly on a mission to attract investment for the state.

However, details of the proposed visit were yet to be finalised, he said.
