No domestic work for class IV employees-Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Jul 27 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed senior officials in the state not to employ government class IV employees in domestic works.

The Chief Minister's direction came after Class IV government employees boycotted domestic work in the houses of the seniors following the assault of an employee by the son of an IAS couple on July 24.

Bana Behari Sahu, a class IV employee working in the residence of Ardhendu Sekhar Sharangi and Madhur Sharangi, was severely assaulted by the couple's son Anindya Sharangi.

The employee later lodged FIR with the police station and the police arrested Anindya but later released him on bail.

Peeved at the incident the class four employees in the state capital decided not to work in the houses of the senior officials.

This caused much embarrassment to the state government.

Sensing the mood of the class IV employees, the Chief Minister today directed that the government circular, not to engage the class IV employees for domestic purposes, should be strictly implemented.

Meanwhile, the state government transferred Madhur Sharangi from the chairperson post of the MARKFED following the incident. The employee assaulted by the IAS couple's son was working with the MARKFED.

In another development, Bana Behari Sahu's wife had moved the State Human Rights Commission criticising the role of the police and seeking justice in the case.
