MPHC annuls quota conversion move

Jabalpur, July 27: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has struck down a decision whereby a 15 per cent management quota for private technical colleges was converted into a NRI quota by an admission monitoring committee.

Chief Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik and Justice Deepak Mishra heard a plea yesterday by the Vardhman Academy and others.

Petitioners' Counsel Rajendra Tiwari submitted that the state government authorised the Professional Examinations Board to conduct entrance tests for technical colleges.

''The Chandra Bhushan Committee, formed by the court to determine the admission process in private colleges, converted the quota on July 22 but that is unconstitutional,'' Mr Tiwari said.
