Monsoon gains momentum in UP
Lucknow, July 27 (UNI) After a brief lull, the monsoon has again gained momentum in Uttar Pradesh.
In the last 24 hrs, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Kanpur, Allahabad, Lucknow and Bareilly divisions were lashed by heavy downpour.
Dabri received the maximum rainfall at 19 cm, followed by Bhatpurwaghat 16 cm, Ankinghat 15 cm, Kalpi 13, Bareilly 11 cm, Fatehgarh 10 cm, Shardanagar 9 cm, Gomatia 9 cm, while 7 cm each in Balrampur, Mukhlispur, Kanpur and Lucknow.
Similarly, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at many places in the next 24 hrs.
The temperature has taken a beating and plunged below normal at various places.
Central Water Commission (CWC) said major rivers including Ganga, Yamuna, Gomti, Ken, Rapti and Gandak were rising along their course, while Sharda at Paliakala was decreasing.
