Media to be consulted on Broadcast Bill: Dasmunsi

New Delhi, July 27: The Government today indicated that the proposed Broadcasting Services Regulation Bill might undergo some changes and be delayed.

In written replies in the Rajya Sabha, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said it was difficult to give any time frame for introduction of the Bill in Parliament.

He said it was also difficult to indicate final view of the government on the matter.

The questioners had asked whether the Bill was coming in the current session and whether the proposed legislation would give the the Government the power to prescribe restrictions to prevent cross media monopoly.

The Minister said a need has been felt to consult media in the matter.
