MCOCA court rejects Sujata Nikhalje's bail plea
Mumbai, July 27 (UNI) Special MCOCA court today rejected the bail plea of underworld don Chhota Rajan's wife Sujata Nikhalje and her elder brother-in-law Prakash Nikhalje, arrested in connection with their involvement in last year's extortion case.
Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Judge Abhay Thipsay today rejected their bail plea on the ground that though Chhota Rajan is out of India, his activities in the country are being carried out. Also, police investigations so far indicate their involvement in the organised crime, the judge said.
Sujata, who was arrested on December 14 last year, and Prakash Nikhalje arrested after a week, approached the MCOCA court pleading bail.
In all, six accused who were arrested in the case, are in judicial custody including Sujata, Prakash and their three accomplices -- Suresh Shinde, Harvinder Singh alias Kookoo Daruwala, Rakesh Surve, and her chartered accountant Bharat Dudhani.
Police alleged that Sujata had received half of the Rs 10 lakh extortion amount from the complainant.
