K'taka disposes 151 petitions under RTI Act

Bangalore, July 27 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Information Commissioner K K Mishra today said the Commission had disposed of 151 petitions, seeking information under the Right to Information Act, of the total 387 received.

Talking to reporters here, he said the Commission, which had completed almost an year, was able to get 99 per cent of the information that people sought. The petitions mainly related to urban development, housing cooperative societies and development issues of panchayats, he added.

He said the right to seek information from the Government on any issue would bring about a change in the quality of administration.

The Act would help governance to become more transparent in the long term.

The Commission's office was today shifted from the Secretariat to the adjoining M S building following tightening of security at Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat, to help more and more people utilise the Act.
