Kashmir remains hot despite rains as day-night temp. remains high
Srinagar, July 27 (UNI) Weather remained hot because of above normal day and night temperature in the summer capital of the Jammu and Kashmir where rain also could not bring any relief for the people.
The civil lines in the Srinagar city experienced heavy showers this afternoon and majority of roads were under water, making the movement for pedestrains difficult.
Interestingly there was no rains at Dalgate and Sonawar, a km away. Similarly there was also no rains in other area of the city.
Last night only few parts of the city received heavy rains while others remained dry.
A spokesman of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here told UNI the minimum temperature last night was 22.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
The maximum temperature today was two degrees above normal, at 31.8 degrees.Cellsius. There was 6.6 mm rainfall, he said.
He predicted rainfall at a few places in the Kashmir valley, particularly on shortest Baltal-Amarnath and trational Pahalgam- Amarnath routes where the two-month-long pilgrimage is going on since June 11.
Spokesman said the highest ever maximum temperature recorded in the state's summer capital during the past 80 years was 37.8 degrees Celsius on June 29, 1978.
