'Karnataka Govt abolishes quota for Anglo Indian students'

Bangalore, July 27 (UNI) In violation of the eligibility clauses of the Common Entrance Test (CET), the Karnataka Government has abolished the two-seat quota reserved for Anglo Indian students in engineering courses for 2006-07, Mr Ivan Nigli, the nominated Anglo Indian member in the Karnataka Assembly, alleged today.

In a statement here, he accused the Government of abolishing the quota without assigning any reason, thereby denying social justice to the 25,000-strong micro minority community in the State.

Strongly urging the Government for the continuance of the quota, Mr Nigli said he would take up the matter with the State Government and meet the Chief Secretary in this connection.
