'Janapada Bhishma' Mattigatti Krishnamurthy is dead
Bangalore, July 27 (UNI) Renowned folk songs writer Mattigatti Krishnamurhty died of old age here today.
He was 94. He is survived 10 Daughters and One Son, 11 grand Son and two great grand son.
Mr Mattigatti, was awarded 'Janapada Bishma' by the Karnataka Janapada Academy in recognition of his contribution to the field. He had written more than 50,000 folk songs in his life time.
He had also penned more than 60 books. His English translation of novel 'Kalasapurada Hudugaru', written in 1954, got into print after a gap of 50 years.
Mattigatti was the recepient of many awards including Rajyotsava Award.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, in his condolence messege, said that Mr Mattigatti was a great critic and contribution to the focklore literature was invaluable.
