IBM India, Mysore University ink MoU

Mysore, July 27 (UNI) IBM India and University of Mysore today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to groom BSc graduates at the IBM workplace and offer MS (technology) courses as an outreach programme to employees of the IT major with BSc degrees.

The MoU was signed by varsity Registrar B J Hosmath and IBM Bangalore chief Dr Guruprasad in the presence of University Vice-Chancellor Prof J Shashidar Prasad here.

IBM and the University would jointly develop the curriculum for the four-year MS programme, which would begin from August this year.

The programme would be in keeping with the schedules of the working people.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Prasad said the Mysore University had signed a first-of-its-kind MoU with IBM in the country on the occasion of the 90th foundation day of the varsity.

Dr Guruprasad said the MoU would enable their about 43,000 employees to take up higher studies in Mysore University. The entire fees would be paid by IBM as per the university norms. IBM would facilitate the course completely, including curriculum, use of external faculty, resources and library facilities. The pact would enable them to work to groom future talent and create an IT-ready workforce, he added.
